Winter is here. Winter old fashioned is a little bit of a twist from the traditional old fashion drink. I consider it a winter drink because it has spiced honey simple syrup.
This cocktail is great for a small gathering among friends or just want to do something a little different than your tradition bourbon drink.
Ingredients
For the spiced honey simple syrup:
- honey
- water
- ginger
- Rosemary sprigs
- cinnamon stick
- star anise
- cloves
For the old fashioned:
- bourbon
- orange juice
- apple juice
- orange bitters
- spiced honey simple syrup
- ice
Tools Needed
- small pot
- Highball glass
How to Make Winter Old Fashioned
- Prepare the spiced honey simple syrup: In a small pot over low heat combine all the ingredients. Cook for around 10 minutes stirring constantly. Remove from heat and allow to cool down completely.
- Prepare the old fashioned: In a jar combine the orange juice, apple juice, orange bitters and bourbon. Add the simple syrup and stir to incorporate.
- Fill glasses with ice and pour the old fashioned over. Garnish with herbs and spices.

- 2 rosemary sprigs
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 star anise
- 5-7 cloves
- For the old fashioned:
- 1 cup bourbon
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 cup apple juice
- 3 dashes orange bitters
- ⅓ cup spiced honey simple syrup
- Cinnamon sticks, star anise, cloves, orange peels, rosemary and thyme sprigs as a garnish
- ice
